Raw 20.05.2024

Whoo-hoo! The RadiantGame Team is now in our city — Greensboro, North Carolina! 🎉

If I remember correctly, your Tribal Chief has demanded acknowledgment in this very Greensboro Coliseum many times before — a perfect place to throw down some epic battles tonight like Jey Uso vs. Gunther, Iyo Sky vs. Lyra Valkyria, and Sami Zayn taking on Chad Gable, among others.
I’m expecting more talking segments tonight, since most of the King and Queen of the Ring matches are already behind us — which gives us space for some good storytelling. I’m also really hyped to finally see Bron Breakker in action, and of course, Ilja Dragunov, who’s been blowing my mind with his last two matches.
Let’s gooooo baby!

Sami Zayn (C) vs. Chad Gable

We kick off Raw with our Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn, who tried to explain why he turned the title match into a triple threat.
Turns out, he’s got two major issues: one personal and one professional — and they’re named Bronson Reed and Chad Gable. So Sami decided to handle them both at once. Zayn was clearly fired up, calling himself the soul of this match and swearing to overcome all odds again in Saudi Arabia.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 1Raw 20.05.2024 - Gable got sneaky, turning his own student into a pawn just to chase victory.

Gable came out next and basically snapped. He claimed his only mistake was being too nice, especially to Sami and the "three clowns" behind him — Otis, Maxxine, and Akira. He verbally ripped into his students, calling them failures. Sami, not missing a beat, asked the real question: "How long are you guys going to keep standing by this guy’s crap?"

Then, Sami had a better idea — why wait for the PLE when we can fight right now?! Gable agreed.

Sami dominated the opening minutes, tossing Gable out of the ring. Alpha Academy looked seriously worried about their “Master.” Chad tried to get sneaky — distracting the ref and expecting Maxxine to slap Sami, but she refused. Still got some good left in her! 🙏

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 2Raw 20.05.2024 - Chad’s been treating Otis like trash two weeks in a row now — and it blows my mind that Otis hasn’t snapped yet.

Akira Tozawa also wouldn’t stoop to a cheap shot, and that pushed Gable over the edge. He banished his students from ringside, wasting so much time yelling that Sami hit him with a Blue Thunder Bomb, though Gable kicked out.

The match turned brutal, with neither man gaining a solid advantage. Gable countered a Helluva Kick into an Ankle Lock, doing serious damage. Then it was Otis’ big test.
Sami landed outside near him, but Otis couldn't bring himself to attack… at first. Chad, once again distracted the ref, and this time Otis snapped — he attacked Sami, allowing Gable to finish the match with his Choose Theory finisher. 😞 So sad to see Otis finally break.

Bron Breakker vs. Kale Dixon

Bron Breakker’s Raw debut… against an NXT Level Up guy named Kale Dixon. Yup, you guessed it — completely useless and senseless squash match. 🤷‍♂️ Breakker is still mad he wasn’t in the tournament, and boy, he took it out on Dixon. After a devastating spear, Bron threw the poor guy out of the ring and cut him in half with another running Spear.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 3Raw 20.05.2024 - The match was over in a blink. Honestly, what did this young guy expect walking into that?

The ref had to stop the match — Dixon couldn’t even stand. And just to make sure we knew he was furious, Breakker speared him a third time and tried to crush him with the steel steps.

Luckily, WWE officials stopped him…

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 4Raw 20.05.2024 - Honestly, this might just be the fastest way someone’s career ever got shut down in WWE.

So instead, he jammed Kale’s head between the steps and a chair. 💀 Goodbye Dixon. Was it impressive? No. One of the dumbest debuts I’ve seen. 🙄

Queen of the Ring Semi-Finals: Lyra Valkyria vs. Iyo Sky

Finally, the big question — would Iyo Sky prove she’s a future Queen of the Ring, or would we once again see another sudden, unimpressive win by the NXT rookie? No doubt, I was all-in for the former Women’s Champion.Iyo looked confident and sharp, while Lyra looked like she was second-guessing every step.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 5Raw 20.05.2024 - The only decent move Lyra delivered was that unique submission — creative, yes, but not game-changing.

After a huge Meteora in the corner, Iyo was close to the win, but Lyra refused to quit. Valkyria was on defense for most of the match — Sky broke her in half with a backbreaker, followed by a submission hold that showed why Iyo is a wrestling genius. In classic heel fashion, Iyo disrespected Lyra, but karma hit quick — a German Suplex gave Lyra time to recover and strike back with kicks and an enzuigiri.

Then… the same thing that’s happened in her last matches happened again. Out of nowhere, Iyo forgot how to wrestle for a few minutes. No offense, no defense — just blank. Even then, she didn’t let Lyra hit the Nightwing, and she almost won with a Crossface in the center of the ring. Later on, a springboard dropkick and a second Meteora had Iyo set up for the win, but Lyra blocked the signature Moonsault, though she couldn’t stop the Moonsault to the outside.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 6Raw 20.05.2024 - The Genius of the Sky never disappoints — her high-flying offense is always a thrill to watch.

After all that, Lyra absorbed tons of punishment, only to bounce back with a Tornado DDT and vertical suplex. She kept missing Nightwing…
But then, Iyo missed her final Moonsault attempt — and got rolled up for the loss. What the hell did I just watch?! Lyra’s had three matches and this was the worst of them. That was straight garbage. 🗑️

Adam Pearce is having a nightmare of a night

From the very first segment, things completely spiraled out of control. Someone attacked the LWO backstage, leaving Cruz Del Toro with a serious injury. Adam Pearce was furious and confused — and that was just the beginning.
Later, Bron Breakker marched towards Adam and told him flat out:“No one controls me.” And unfortunately, he meant it.

Ilja Dragunov had a backstage talk with Ricochet, who was looking for a rematch with the Mad Dragon. But before they could even shake hands, Breakker came out of nowhere and speared Ricochet straight through the barricade!

Massive rib damage — the dude was coughing up blood. What kind of lunatic is this Breakker guy?! If he were on SmackDown, you just know Nick Aldis would’ve handled this freak already. Meanwhile, poor Adam Pearce is probably gonna need a strong drink (or ten) after the chaos he’s had to deal with tonight. 🥴

Awesome Truth (C) vs. Judgment Day

Before the match, R-Truth told The Miz not to worry about the numbers game, because he made a deal with… Andre the Giant. 😅 Yeah… R-Truth really said that — even though Andre passed away 30 years ago. But in Truth’s mind, that’s just a minor detail. 🤷‍♂️ I think I might know who he actually meant by “Andre the Giant,” but let’s see if I’m right.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 7Raw 20.05.2024 - Honestly, I’ve never seen bigger John Cena superfans than R-Truth and The Miz.

Meanwhile, Judgment Day had a golden opportunity to win back the tag titles and walk out with two championships tonight. As usual, Miz did most of the heavy lifting, but once Dirty Dom got involved with a one-handed cheap shot, the tides turned fast. Great to see McDonagh performing well — he’s honestly improved so much.

When Truth finally got tagged in, he went full John Cena mode, hitting the shoulder tackles, spinning side slam, and even locked in an almost STF on Bálor, until JD made the saveCarlito jumped in to save JD McDonagh from getting pinned, turning the whole thing into a 2-on-4 situation.  But then… “Andre the Giant” arrived.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 8Raw 20.05.2024 - One vintage Attitude Adjustment from R-Truth — and the champs walk out with the victory!

Nope, it wasn’t a ghost. It was Braun Strowman!! 😱 He wiped out most of Judgment Day, creating the perfect opening for Truth to hit an Attitude Adjustment on McDonagh, securing the win and keeping the tag team gold right where it belongs. Still the champs! Awesome job, boys.

The Man is sending a message

Becky Lynch, our Women’s World Champion, came out to address Liv Morgan, who she’s been feuding with for weeks. She reminded everyone — again — that Liv has never beaten her one-on-one.

Liv had heard enough and stormed down to confront her. Becky? She had jokes: “Took you 10 years to finally find your purpose, huh Liv?" Honestly though, this entire back-and-forth felt pointless. They were talking in totally different languages, metaphorically speaking.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 9Raw 20.05.2024 - Becky was clearly looking to brawl, but her challenger just wasn’t ready to trigger the Revenge Tour against the reigning champion.

Liv is completely locked in, convinced she’ll become champion, and Becky just kept trying to rile her up with the crowd. Same old Becky — loud, dramatic, pulling everyone into the emotion of the moment. We've seen this version of her for the last five years. In the end, Becky called Liv out for a fight, and Liv pulled her usual fake-out — ran into the ring like she was ready to throw down, only to chicken out at the last second.

So cliché. Honestly, this was a total waste of Raw TV time. Nothing new was said, and nothing really happened.

Fatal 4-Way #1 Contender’s Match – Women’s Tag Team Division

Damage CTRL vs. Zoey Stark & Shayna Baszler vs. Ivy Nile & Maxxine Dupri vs. Kayden Carter & Katana Chance

Let’s be honest: only one real team in this match has an actual tag name — so I figured Damage CTRL had the best odds going in. That said, Kayden and Katana are former champs themselves and definitely have what it takes to win. Still… looking at the bigger picture? None of these teams realistically stand a chance against Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. That’s just facts. But hey — at least we might get some solid entertainment out of this.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 10Raw 20.05.2024 - What a beastly showcase by Ivy Nile! The Pitbull came to bite, and that strength was unreal!

And to be fair, everyone got a chance to shine tonight. Katana & Kayden kicked things off fast and furious, clearing the ring with high-speed offense. Maxxine Dupri once again showed she’s improving in the ring — slowly but surely. At one point, Damage CTRL nearly stole the win, but Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler weren’t having it. Kayden Carter pulled off a wild moment when she launched Stark into Baszler with a Hurricanrana! Pure chaos.

It looked like Maxxine was about to score the win with a reverse falling elbow, but Kairi Sane and Dakota Kai ruined her moment by locking her in place for the Insane Elbow.
Honestly, Dakota and Kairi probably should’ve taken it… but in the final seconds, Stark blind-tagged herself in, and with Shayna, they double-teamed Maxxine to snatch the win and become #1 contenders.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 11Raw 20.05.2024 - If Maxxine continues to grow consistently, I really believe she’ll one day be ready to go after the title.

So now it’s Zoey Stark & Shayna Baszler vs. Jade & Bianca. They may not win, but they’ll definitely bring the fight.

King of the Ring – Semifinal: Gunther vs. Jey Uso

Now this was the main event level match Raw needed. A collision between the Ring General and the Yeet Warrior. Both men have faced off before, so it’s no surprise that neither could gain a clear advantage early on. Things shifted when Gunther started targeting Jey's injured left hand — a weakness exposed during his battle with Dragunov last week. Ring posts, steel steps, hard corners of the ring — Gunther used it all. A brutal, merciless assault. That man is a sadistic technician.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 12Raw 20.05.2024 - Jey kicked off the match with a solid burst of offense, finishing the sequence with his trademark suicide dive.

Also, not gonna lie, I got nervous seeing Drew McIntyre backstage. Was he going to interfere and ruin Jey's shot at glory? Even if Jey pulled off a miracle and won this war, it’s clear his hand won’t be 100% for the finals. Gunther hit him with monstrous chops, practically blistering his chest — and unsurprisingly, he carried most of the match’s workload.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 13Raw 20.05.2024 - Jey was on the brink of tapping out, but with sheer will and the heart of a warrior, he fought back from the edge!

Ring General  nearly ended it with his classic combo: Shotgun dropkick + Last Symphony — but Jey refused to stay down. 😤 So Gunther locked in a vicious submission, bending him like a pretzel. Still not enough! Then came a top-rope splash, then a clothesline from hell — and still, Jey kicked out again. Gunther began to lose his cool, nearly getting himself disqualified while stomping Jey into the corner.

But Uso fought back with a SPEAR, followed by the Uso Splash!💥 Almost had it! But the Ring General had one last card to play — he locked Jey  in a tight sleeper hold using his own injured arm, and finally… Uso passed out. No tap-out, no quit — but it was over.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 14Raw 20.05.2024 - Jey’s most powerful combo nearly brought down Gunther, but The Ring General shrugged it off and kept fighting!

Gunther wins. He advances to the finals of the 2024 King of the Ring tournament. What. A. Match. Unreal heart and resilience from Jey, but the General marches on.

Final Thoughts

The last Raw before the PLE gave me a rollercoaster of emotions—from frustration to excitement, with some real fun sprinkled in between. The only thing that disappointed me was the lack of involvement from our World Heavyweight Champion. I honestly don’t even remember if he’s booked for the PLE, but if he is, I guess he deserved the night off to recover.

Sami Zayn enters the PLE with a huge disadvantage 😬

Booking a match just days before defending your title? Terrible idea. Even worse? Losing that match to one of your PLE challengers. The rivalry between Sami and Gable is deeply personal now, and the only man benefiting from this chaos is Bronson Reed. The big man is smart—he doesn’t let emotions cloud his goal: winning the Intercontinental Championship. If Sami lets his emotions get the best of him, he might not just lose the match... he could lose everything.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 7Raw 20.05.2024 - Not a great stat for Sami heading into the PLE next week — and with Gable this motivated, that’s a serious problem.

Bron Brings the Anarchy 😡🔥

Another week, another nameless squash. This time, the match didn’t even begin before Bron turned it into a violent mugging with steel chairs. What’s the point of this? To show us how brutal he is? We get it! Now give him a real opponent. I’m done watching rising talent get wrecked like this. Adam Pearce clearly can’t control the red brand, and you can tell he already regrets drafting Bron Breakker. That said, things are finally heating up—Ricochet is next, and possibly Ilja Dragunov after that. Now that’s a fight I’d love to see!

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 8Raw 20.05.2024 - Pearce really needs to do something before this dangerous game sets everything on fire.

Lyra is going to the finals? 🤯

I still can’t calm myself down after that match. Seriously?! After showing absolutely nothing, Lyra rolls up Iyo Sky and now she’s heading to the finals to face either Jax or Bianca? So basically, if you’re hyped and Irish, you can just advance however you want? 🤦‍♂️ What a ridiculous match and a stupid ending.

In my opinion, Iyo absolutely should’ve been in the finals, and most likely should’ve had that crown placed on her head. If Lyra ends up winning this whole tournament, I’ll have a lot of questions. Probably the same nonsense that let her beat Becky Lynch in some strange, illogical way. Sorry, but I’m mad. 😤

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 9Raw 20.05.2024 - At least Iyo Sky didn’t go down to a clean pin! That means a future rematch with Valkyria is still very much on the table.

Awesome Truth’s Giant Backup 🤯

Well... I called it! “Andre the Giant” turned out to be Braun Strowman, who has suddenly launched himself into a war with The Judgment Day. Honestly, I have no idea what Braun is doing lately—he shows up, disappears, and we still haven’t seen him in a proper match. Hopefully, he sticks around and finds himself a purpose again. Meanwhile, Miz and R-Truth managed to survive another title defense, and if things keep going like this, they might actually stay champs for the next few months!

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 18Raw 20.05.2024 - It’ll be interesting to see what Braun does now that he’s back from injury and ready for a new run.

Another Pointless Conversation 😴

I’m just gonna say it—the Becky vs. Liv promo segment was a total waste of time. It added nothing new. It was like two clowns throwing cream pies while making dramatic faces. Becky played her usual tough-girl card, and Liv kept doing her “smart heel” thing. If I had to bet, I’d give Liv a 40% chance to win. She’ll need to do something she’s never done before: beat The Man. And that’s not gonna be easy considering how fired up Becky Lynch is right now.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 19Raw 20.05.2024 - That face you make when you troll the champion and make her believe a fight is about to go down.

Last Chance for Stark and Baszler? ⌛

Zoey and Shayna have been teaming up for a while now, yet they still haven’t captured the tag titles since unification. Tonight, though, they made a big statement. Their next challenge? Facing the powerhouse champs Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. On paper, the champs are clearly stronger, but Shayna and Stark have something the others don’t: experience and hunger. If they fail this time, I think Zoey should break off and reignite her solo career. And if they somehow win? This might be Shayna’s one and only run as champion in WWE. Let’s see what fate has planned.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 20Raw 20.05.2024 - Another chance for these two ladies, but honestly, I don’t see them standing much of a chance against the current tag team champions.

Will the General soon become a King? 👑

What. A. Match. Gunther vs. Jey Uso absolutely delivered and surprisingly, the win was 100% clean. I was expecting some interference—especially with Drew McIntyre creeping around backstage—but nope. Ring General crushed Main Event Jey all on his own. Both men entered the ring wounded: Jey’s hand was in bad shape, and Gunther’s leg was still messed up from his war with Kofi. But Gunther had the deeper arsenal and more efficient strategy, and that’s what secured his win. Now he advances to the King of the Ring finals—either against Randy Orton or Tama Tonga. As for Jey... I really don’t know what’s next. Maybe it’s time for him to find a new goal.

Raw 20.05.2024 post image 21Raw 20.05.2024 - Gunther just made it 2–0 against Jey, and this time the win was crystal clear — no controversy, no excuses.

This Raw was definitely interesting, but not totally impressive. The main event was a banger, no question. But the rest of the matches were hit-and-miss. And don’t even get me started on IYO SKY losing to Lyra Valkyria. Seriously?? That was the worst match of the night. I was absolutely sure IYO would make it to the finals, so that was my biggest disappointment of the evening.

Bron Breakker finally got active, but this feels more like a modern-day Ryback-style rampage than a true evolution. On the other hand, the Alpha Academy drama is actually really entertaining. I’m curious how Otis will act at the PLE—will he stand with Gable or finally remember his own pride?

Now we only have one last stop before the PLE—SmackDown, where we’ll find out the last participants for the King and Queen of the Ring finals. It's going to be exciting
